What is the best tablet answer for taking handwritten notes?
So i have a question i feel could pose significant value to the community but i am unable to find a good quality answer that satisfies all the pieces of the argument that should be evaluated.
So the main question could be this: What is the best tablet answer for taking handwritten notes?
Things to consider:
1. Handwritten notes include ‘sketches’ and diagrams. Not only standard written words but also complex math equations and digrams that would be impossible to create using the standard keyboard
2. All around ease of use; in other words, will it be a burden to replace the standard notebook and pencil, or will it be a natural solution.
3. Ability to easily mark up pdfs or other forms of ebooks with sketches or diagrams in the margins.
4. Easy file management and file distribution.
There is currently several options available on the market.
HTC Flyer branded to do just as described above, but suffers from limited use for the “magic pen” outside of the stock applications, as well as an odd screen size causing a lack in real-estate needed for good note taking. (may possibly be fixed with HTC’s new 10.1 Honeycomb tablet)
IPad 2 I hate to admit it but apple has the market cornered when it comes to quality handwritten note taking applications, but has not yet provided a creative solution as far as a stylus is concerned. Most after market styluses offer the same limited amount of features and excessive list of problems.
Various other Android tablets, which suffer from the same setbacks as the IPad2 with the exception of not having as high quality note taking applications.
Various Windows tablets, have been around for ages, and for the most part have gone unchanged since then.
Have any other solutions or set ups you are currently using?
I’m also a big note taker and love to hand write as well as type. I’m all for the Flyer. I prefer the size as it’s more portable. I travel a lot, so I can keep my guidebooks or books for entertainment in the Flyer and take notes as I want on the fly. There is also an audio recorder function to go along with timed notes that’s pretty cool. Anyhow, can’t wait to get it myself… more good info here:
